Before, Bitcoin was worthless, but as of Wednesday, its value is at $43,000.
Exactly 13 years ago today, computer scientist Hal Finney received Satoshi Nakamoto’s very first Bitcoin transaction from him.
Satoshi sent Finney 10 BTC, worth $1 at the time, but today $440,000. This was probably the first of many Bitcoin transactions involving hundreds of millions of people worldwide to test the blockchain.
I got it as soon as Satoshi announced it, Finney stated on Bitcointalk.org. Finney believed he’s the first person to run Bitcoin other than Satoshi. After mining block 70-something, Satoshi sent me 10 bitcoins as a test transaction. During the following few days, he communicated with Satoshi via email, primarily reporting bugs and requesting fixes.
Finney was one of the initial Bitcoin comments to Satoshi’s mailing list post and is now a famous pseudonym.Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), popularly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, claimed the life of the famed crypto pioneer in 2014. In 2022, he would have turned 65.
On January 8, the Bitcoin blockchain achieved 701 million transactions, making it one of its most popular cryptocurrencies. As a result of one of the most well-known early use cases—exchanging 10,000 BTC for two pizzas in 2010. Many pubs and restaurants around El Salvador accept cryptocurrency.
Coins like Bitcoin and crypto were experimental, untested and generally unknown when they were first introduced in 2008. Regulators worldwide are now arguing how to handle central bank digital currencies, stablecoins, and digital assets.
It seems conceivable that the BTC blockchain will still be active in 2035, 13 years after the current time frame. Some analysts predict it to hit $100,000 by 2022, and there’s still room for development.
