The BitTorrent family has expanded with DLive, a video streaming network. After linking with BitTorrent, the latter will develop its protocol to enable a P2P network for live streaming and content amplification.
Details about DLive Protocol and what it implies for the video platform’s community were revealed during BitTorrent’s virtual conference on December 16.
It was up to BitTorrent CEO and TRON co-founder Justin Sun to reveal the new-look DLive. DLive Protocol, by connecting to BitTorrent’s P2P network, will enable streamers to broadcast material from anywhere at a meager cost. This will be possible because viewers will act as nodes, posting content to other viewers. This will function similarly to a blockchain, such as Bitcoin. This is where nodes transmit data to other nodes based on their proximity. DLive Protocol will not mark the conclusion of the evolution of the video streaming platform. But rather, it is the start of a new age for P2P networking.
BitTorrent Set to Explode in 2021
You haven’t seen anything yet if you thought 2020 was a big year for BitTorrent. That looks to be the word coming from the TRON camp. This is also where hopes are high for the TRON-BitTorrent dream team’s accomplishments in 2021. Justin Sun said he honestly believes that decentralized entertainment will be the next significant step in blockchain public acceptance. He looks forward to introducing revolutionary solutions to the digital entertainment space with the BitTorrent and DLive teams and creating benefits for all.
In practice, this means combining TRON’s critical products. So, the data and value can freely flow between them, creating a network that puts entertainment in the hands of millions while demonstrating that web3 can operate at scale to solve real-world problems.
Justin Sun demonstrated the new BitTorrentX website. Specifically, it collects all of the products that link to the P2P file-sharing network in some capacity during the 12-hour virtual conference. BitTorrent Token allows compensating storage providers for contributing network resources. BitTorrent Speed, DLive Protocol, and BitTorrent File System are the four key components (BTFS). The latter, released earlier this year, connects BitTorrent to TRON, allowing dApp developers to access distributed storage.
TRON Welcomes TUSD and Ampleforth
After welcoming WBTC and USDT to TRON this year, with the latter accounting for $6.4 billion in TRC20 tether, the stage is set for more crypto projects to join in 2021. TrueUSD will move its TUSD stablecoin to TRON, and Ampleforth will build on the high throughput network. Brandon Iles, CTO of Ampleforth, spoke at the BitTorrent virtual conference. He was also with officials from Waves, with whom TRON established an interoperable bridge this year, and Simplex. This fiat-crypto payment startup allows users to buy digital assets like TRX with a credit card.
As leading crypto enterprises flock to TRON, its ecosystem grows stronger. It also bolsters the argument for defi, web3, enterprise, and entertainment to be provided on layer-1, whose tentacles now reach into every primary industry globally.
