Snoop Dogg, now 50, shows no signs of slowing down. The rapper just purchased Death Row Records, the Dr. Dre-founded label, and said that he will turn it into an NFT label.
Snoop got on Clubhouse little than a week after obtaining the Death Row brand from MNRK Music Group and discussed his ambitions to introduce Death Row into the metaverse.
Death Row will be an NFT label, he stated. They’ll be sending their artists across the metaverse and a whole new musical chain.
Death Row as First Major in Metaverse
The rapper stated that, similar to how they revolutionized the industry by becoming the first independent to go major, he too wishes to be the first major in the metaverse, making Death Row an NFT.
Gala Games, a blockchain gaming platform, helped Snoop Dogg launch his new album BODR (Bacc on Death Row). Fans who purchased the NFT “stash box” version of the CD for $5,000 received three more tracks.
The box sets are limited to 25,000 copies, and as of this writing, only about 10,000 had been sold. That’s about $50 million in all. Snoop is looking at a $125 million payout if all 25,000 tickets sell.
NFT Tech Potential
According to Snoop Dogg, Blockchain technology has the potential to transform everything and tilt the scales in favor of artists and fans. With this Gala Music deal, they’ll be right at the front of the pack.
Stash box subscribers may expect “special drops” such as videos, comics, photos, and unique concert attendance chances, according to Gala Music.
Song NFTs will also have “revenue possibilities on the Gala Music network,” according to the site.
Thus according Gala’s website, the proprietors of all 17 songs will win significant real-world and digital incentives. There will be an exclusive concert and pre-party featuring Snoop Dogg, as well as limited edition Death Row bling.
Snoop Dogg isn’t unfamiliar with NFTs and the metaverse. In December, he unveiled the Snoopverse. It is an interactive universe in which one NFT member paid $450,000 to be his virtual neighbor. Also, his A Journey With The Dogg collection debuted on Crypto.com in April.
The appropriately named Snoopverse is where the West Coast legend is currently constructing a Voxel Art. It is a replica of his real-life estate in Diamond Bar, California. He’ll be conducting private virtual concerts, parties, art gallery displays, and more.
The Snoopverse offers individuals the ability to buy virtual land in addition to special NFTs like Snoop Dogg avatars and souped-up automobiles. The first phase of real estate was auctioned, consisting of 122 land plots, 67 premium land plots, and three estates.
