Tezos is off to a strong start in 2022, especially in terms of new alliances. Tezos is rolling out new brand collaborations, new NFT roll-outs. And now a new sports sponsorship arrangement with Manchester United, albeit the blockchain’s most famous deal was with Red Bull’s F1 team until last year.
Man U & Tezos
Tezos has agreements with the MLB’s New York Mets, McLaren Racing, and most recently, esports team Team Vitality.
The Vitality deal was Tezos’ biggest sponsorship to date, launching off 2022 in full force.
With this week’s news, Tezos is extending those excellent connections by partnering with Manchester United, a powerhouse European football team.
The contract is apparently a multi-year partnership, with Tezos spending out north of $27M yearly, according to The Athletic. The agreement comes at a time when European teams scrutinize more closely for possible crypto and blockchain partners.
Manchester City, a nearby team, criticizes in November for allegedly lacking due diligence in cooperating with regional crypto partner 3Key. The city cut ties with the firm a month ago.
The full spectrum of partnership assets has yet to announce. However, The Athletic indicates that training kit integration, and potentially metaverse and Web3-oriented joint projects could be in the mix.
People asked on Monday to identify Hodder and other executives identified in a press release announcing 3Key’s debut into the “decentralized finance” sector a month ago.
Tezos Expands Its Role
Tezos’ recent months could describe as “high highs and low lows.”
While the protocol has built formal agreements with well-known brands and IP. Such as Ubisoft and the aforementioned Team Vitality, the blockchain experienced significant hurdles in the NFT arena, most notably when the chain’s largest marketplace, HEN, crashed.
Ubisoft officially released Ubisoft Quartz, the company’s first foray into NFTs, which includes three free items and builds on Tezos.
Quartz, according to the launch site, designs to help you connect with your favorite game worlds.
With adversity, Tezos showed resilience. However, Ubisoft’s core audience remains skeptical about NFT integration, indicating that the blockchain has a long way to go before it can consider a big power player.
Nonetheless, the chain’s efforts and growing position as an energy-efficient NFT option is “worthy of note.”
